Jim Thorpe and Carbon County were challenged to put their money where their mouths are if they want to help the borough find the legal means to keep a Hare Krishna sect from purchasing the Flagstaff Mountain property and turn it into a "City of God." Speaking before an overflow crowd of more than 1,000 people, Jay Miller, president of Jim Thorpe Borough Council, said the borough would have to raise about $5,000 to hire a land-use attorney from Philadelphia to assist in dealing with the Hare Krishna matter.
