Man charged with stealing equipment from Kovatch

Bruce William Archer, 15 Panorama Circle, Kunkletown, is facing charges that he stole more than $14,000 worth of parts/equipment from the Kovatch Corporation, Nesquehoning.

Charged by Nesquehoning police, Archer was arraigned before District Judge Casimer Kosciolek of Lansford and committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, in lieu of $15,000 bail.

He is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property and also misdemeanor offenses.

Police reported today that Kovatch employees Ron Blisard and David Kattner received a tip that Archer was stealing the materials from Plant No. 7 of the company and on Nov. 9 caught the man with the stolen property (brass fittings worth $655.55) as he was attempting to enter his car. Blisard told police he was informed Archer had been stealing the parts for the past three to four months.

Upon investigation, police went to Archer's residence and observed the defendant backing his Ford pickup truck to his garage and throwing brass fittings from the garage into his truck. Chief Sean Smith seized 125-Akron brass fittings worth $13,700 and arrested the man.
