Two are charged in Franklin Township

State police at the Lehighton barracks said two persons were cited for being in possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop Thursday at 12:11 a.m. at the intersection of Maury and Long Run roads in Franklin Township.

Police said Jacob W. Yenca, 19, of Jim Thorpe, and a 16-year-old girl from Jim Thorpe were charged after a stop for a traffic violation.

In a related report, police said Yenca was stopped for an equipment violation, after which time it was determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Charges are pending the results of the test.
