Bloodmobile
An American Red Cross Bloodmobile held in Tamaqua on Nov. 18 collected 53 units of the "gift of life." The visit was sponsored by Bittner's General Store and was held at the Tamaqua Salvation Army Community Center.
Volunteers who assisted with the event included: Ardis Gerhard, Jean Tonkin, Bob and Dolly Shirey, Phyllis Lane, Jean Stephens, Marilyn Felsoci, Dolores Martin, Claudette Zarra, Sara Jane Bensinger, Robert and Darlene Zeckam.
The gymnasium at th community center was converted into a blood collection center through the efforts of Randy Gormley, Jack Quinn, Peter Shlanta, Joe Rimm, Bill Thomas, Jack Rarick and Mike Trubilla.
Three first time donors rolled up their sleeves: Jacquelyn Taylor, Daniel Kabana and Heather Moerder. Multi-gallon pins were awarded to: Gerald Stianche, 5 gallons; David Mace, 7 gallons; Linda Handler, 13 gallons; John Handler, 19 gallons.
Santa visit
Santa will visit the South Ward Playground on Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. He will arrive courtesy of the South Ward Fire Company and then spend some time visiting with the local children.
Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.
Class of 2010
Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2010 will meet Monday, at 7 p.m., in the senior high school cafeteria. Parents/guardians of all members of the class are welcome to attend and plan for the All Night Party.
Trinity UCC
The Rev. Dr. David Grant will officiate at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Trinity United Church of Christ. The service will include the lighting of the second Advent Candle and words for young Christians. Nursery care is available during the service. Sunday school classes will meet at 8:45 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, Bible study at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Confirmation class meets at 4 p.m. and Senior Choir rehearsal will be at 6 p.m.
