These items are sorely needed in the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's Community Service Center's clothing room, where families can pick what they need every three months, with guidelines as to number of items set by the PVENCSC.
"Friends" needs friend
The Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers involved with aiding the various fundraising efforts to benefit the Western Pocono Community Library.
A monthly meeting is held the first Monday of the month in the Friends room at the library. Anyone is welcome to attend. The meeting is held at 10:30 a.m., with the meeting usually not lasting more than an hour.
In addition, "Friends" has a small monthly luncheon at various local eateries which gives members an opportunity to socialize.
Volunteers are always needed to help run the Back Door Books Store on Bond Lane in Brodheadsville. Becoming a volunteer would mean a commitment of a few hours a month, week, or whenever the volunteer has time to help with staffing.
Volunteer help is also needed during the annual craft show, book sales, bake sales and other fundraising events during the year. Such events are held to raise money to defray the expenses of the library. In light of the state funding cut to the WPCL, help is needed now more than ever.
For more information call Caroline at (570) 992-0160 or ask for Shareen at the library.
