Carbon driver injured in crash
A Carbon County driver was taken to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 7:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, along Hahns Dairy Road, just east of Wintergreen Road, in Lower Towamensing Township.
State police at Lehighton said Eugene M. Strohl, 66, of Palmerton, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck westbound and due to icy conditions he lost control of the vehicle and failed to negotiate a curve. The truck entered the eastbound lane and then onto the south berm where it struck a tree.
After impact with the tree the truck rotated counter-clockwise and struck a second tree with the rear passenger side. Strohl was taken by Palmerton ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of injuries. The truck had to be towed from the scene.
Strohl was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.
Troopers also reported investigating a one vehicle crash about 7:34 a.m. on Friday along Kunkletown Road (SR2002) in Lower Towamensing Township. Troopers said Joseph J. Tracy, 50, of Effort, was driving a 1997 Nissan eastbound when the vehicle slid on ice and into a ditch along the north shoulder.
Tracy was not injured. Troopers cited him for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.
