Monroe driver seriously injured

A Monroe County driver was seriously injured in a crash in which his vehicle ended up underneath a tractor trailer rig. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov., 28, along SR611 north at Veterans Drive, in Tobyhanna.

Police said a car operated by John Newman Jr., of 7170 Seneca Way, Tobyhanna, was found under the rig, which was operated by Carlos O. Lopez, 15 First St., Hackensack, N.J. Newman was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for injuries sustained in the crash. Lopez was not reported injured. The roadway was closed for about four hours do to the crash.

Police said their investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

Police also investigated a one vehicle crash about 7:50 p.m. on Nov. 26 along SR196 just north of A Pocono Country Place entrance gate. Police said a vehicle operated by Michael Brogan, 55, of Fleischmanns, N.Y., crashed into a wooded area off the road. Brogan was found to have a diabetic sitaution and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.
