Perfume thefts land Barnesville man in prison

A Tamaqua area man pleaded guilty to theft of six bottles of perfume and now must spend time in the county prison according to a sentence recently imposed by Judge D. Michael Stine following a hearing in the Schuylkill County Court. Two others who pleaded guilty were also sentenced and five people had their probation revoked.

Michael P. Kryworuka, 33, of Crystal Lane, Barnesville, entered a guilty plea to a charge of retail theft and was sentenced by to serve three months to 23 months in the Schuylkill County Prison, pay a fine of $100 and costs of prosecution, pay $50 to the CJEA (Criminal Justice Enhancement Account) fund and when on probation to enroll in and complete the Retail Theft Divisionary Program. He was cited by Trooper James R. Culvey with theft of six bottles of perfume from Sears Store, Schuylkill Mall, last January. He received credit for spending 93 days in prison and as a patient in a rehab center.

Randy Paul Reinhart, 33, of New Tripoli, pleaded guilty to six counts of corruption of minors, six counts of selling or furnishing alcohol beverages to minors and four counts each of aggravated indecent assault on a person 15 years of age, indecent exposure and indecent assault. Judge Stine accepted the plea but deferred sentence to March 26, 2010 and ordered Reinhart undergo an assessment by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Asssement Board who will submit to court a recommendation on the sentence. Reinhart was cited by Trooper Bernard S. Spece. He is allowed to remain on bail but is to have no contact with the victims.

Kevin Matthew Mabry, 23, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault by forcible compulsion and corruption of minor and his sentence was also deferred to March 26, 2010 and he has to be evaluated by the state's sexual offender assesment board. He also was ordered while he is out on bail he cannot have contact with the victims. Mabry was cited by Detective Steve B. Guers, Pottsville Police.

Judge Stine revoked the probation of five defendants and re-sentenced them as follows:

Frederick John Gardner, 53. Seven Star Road, North Manheim Township, was re-sentenced to undergo incarceration in the county prison for six months to five years with credit for having served 94 days in prison. He may not participate in the work release. Gardner pleaded guilty last August to a dui (driving under the influence) charge and was placed in the IPP (Intermediate Punishment Program) for five years and after he spent 30 days in prison was released on probation for the remaining four years and 11 months of his sentence. The judge ruled he had violated three conditions of his probation, possessing illegal drugs, failing to submit to random durg urinalysis as ordered and possession of alcohol beverages in his home.

Willliam Huth, Jr., 29, Minersville, was re-sentenced to serve five months to 12 months in the county prison with credit for having served 57 days. He had pleaded guilty in April 2008 to charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and was placed on probation. The judge ruled he had violated two conditions of his probation, possession of illegal drugs and failing to report weekly to his probation officer.

Eric Phillip Schaeffer, 36, Orwigsburg, was re-sentenced to serve six months to five years in the county prison with credit for having served 140 days. He had been placed in the IPP program for five years on a dui charge. He had pleaded guilty to the dui charge last May.

Jeffrey Frie, 48, Saint Clair, was re-sentenced to be remanded to the county prison to serve the balance of his original sentence. Frie pleaded guilty in November 2008 to a dui charge and was sentenced to serve 93 days to five years and was out on probation when he violated the condition of his probation not to possess alcoholic beverages in his home. He received credit for 142 days spent in prison. He is allowed to re-apply for parole on January 15, 2010.

Bridget Ann Steffie, 30, Pottsville, was re-sentenced to serve 47 days to 23 months in the county prison. She was granted reparole December 28, 2009 so she can undergo inpatient treatment in a rehab center. Steffie had pleaded guilty to forgery charges last April and was placed on probation. Her probation was revoked because she violated the condition of failing to abstain from possession of illegal drugs.
