3 Tamaqua residents admitted to ARD program

Three Tamaqua people were among 38 who were admitted by Judge Jacquelyn Russell into a special probation program referred to as the ARD (Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition) program which is restricted to first offenders charged with a non-violent crime.

District Attorney James P. Goodman recommended they be admitted into the program because it was their first criminal offense of a non-violent crime. Judge Russell, presiding at a hearing held recently in the Schuylkill County Court, admitted them into the program.

Russell explained they were not pleading guilty but were agreeing to participate in the program and accepting the sentence imposed by the court. If they successfully complete the sentence, their record will be expunged.

Admitted into the program were:

Jordan M. Flexer, 22, of 20 Field Road, Tamaqua, DUI (driving under the influence), serve 12 months on probation, pay a $500 assessment fee, pay $100 to SAE (Substance Abuse Education) fund, pay $50 to CJEA (Criminal Justice Enhancement Account) fund, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours of community service and his driver's license is suspended 60 days.

Flexer was cited by Patrolman Robert Minnich, Rush Township Police, on Manor Avenue.

Christopher M. Hyland, 40, of 255 West Rowe Street, Tamaqua, DUI, 12 months probation, $500 assessment, $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, 10 hours community service, receive outpatient counseling and license suspended 60 days.

Hyland was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale police.

Anthony Joseph Maley, 27, of 330 Spruce Street, Tamaqua, DUI, 12 months probation, $500 assessment, $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, 10 hours community service and license suspended 30 days.
