An unexpected holiday gift

Published December 26. 2009 09:00AM

Dear Editor:

We gave ourselves an unexpected holiday gift this year when we decided to volunteer and were accepted into the cast of the Carbon/ Schuylkill Community Theatre's recent production of Santa Goes Green.

There are just too few opportunities for both children and adults to learn the foundational skills of acting, singing and dancing from seasoned professionals. We feel fortunate to have discovered this community theatre and hardily recommend CSCT to anyone who is looking for an affordable and pleasant night out. For those of you that have ever been accused of being a ham, we would like to encourage you to watch for their next public casting calls and consider trying out for a part.

Besides the personal rewards we enjoyed through performing for others, it was particularly uplifting to see children from this area discovering and honing their talents while growing in poise and confidence in a structured and fun environment. We respect the parents, relatives and friends of these budding young entertainers for supporting their desires and faithfully making sure that they were able to attend the rehearsals.

We are especially grateful to Janet and Joel Sager for providing this oasis of the performing arts where the possibility of discovering the magic of the theatre is open to all.
