Charity walk planned in Weatherly

Weatherly borough recently approved a charity walk to benefit Shepherd House, a food pantry system serving Carbon County.

The inaugural “Holiday Feast” walk will take place at 9 a.m. Oct. 28, starting at Eurana Park.

Donations are appreciated. Participants get a free T-shirt if they make a $20 donation before Oct. 10.

Shepherd House maintains nine food pantries around Carbon County — Tresckow, Beaver Meadows, Weatherly, Nesquehoning, Lansford, Summit Hill, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton and Palmerton.

Each month, they help approximately 1,100 families from Carbon County, volunteer Charlie Hettler said.
