Bomber Fun Run to benefit schools in Palmerton
Parkside and S.S. Palmer elementary school students are raising money in the hopes of seeing one of their teachers or their principal take a pie to the face.
Fundraising is leading up to the annual Bomber Fun Run, scheduled for Oct. 5 in the borough park, adjacent to both schools.
“The fun run is something we’ve done for the past several years and all of the money raised by the students goes to the parent teacher organization,” said Michelle Gordon, S.S. Palmer/Parkside PTO vice president. “The money helps pay for all the field trips and assemblies that are held at the schools. The kids really have a great time.”
This is the first year students have the added incentive of trying to raise enough money to see their favorite teacher, PTO officers and maybe even their principal get a pie in the face.
“If they hit a certain monetary level, that is the reward and it’s something new we added this year to put a twist on things,” Gordon said.
The Fun Run will be taking place throughout the day with each grade level getting its turn during recess.
In addition to running in the park, students will have the opportunity to play inside a giant obstacle course bounce house.
A rain date has been scheduled for Oct. 12.
