Published October 03. 2017 12:36PM

Jeffrey M. McAnaney, 28, of Pottsville, is facing charges of driving under the influence (drug-related) after a vehicle he was driving plowed into seven vehicles on Route 61 in Pottsville at 11:22 a.m. Friday.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said he was driving a 2003 Ford Focus southbound when it struck the other vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light at the Arch Street intersection. Police said McAnaney traveled down the hill from Millcreek Avenue as some of the operators of the stopped vehicles began to pull to their respective sides of the roadway in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid impact.

Police said McAnaney said he lost his brakes while leaving St. Clair Borough and could not bring his vehicle to a stop, plowing into the stopped vehicles.

No one was injured.

Police said they took McAnaney into custody for DUI after the crash.
