Suspected DUI driver strikes pedestrian

A man was seriously injured after being struck by a drunken driver in Monroe County Wednesday, according to police.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian around 8:30 p.m.

They reported that a 19-year-old man conducting traffic control was struck by a vehicle. He was identified as Tyrone R. Morris-Scurry, of East Norriton, Montgomery County.

Morris-Scurry had serious injuries, according to police, and was transported to an area hospital.

The driver, 63-year-old Douglas F. Yahn, a Cresco resident, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

As of Thursday afternoon, no further information on the charges against Yahn were available.
