Carbon County court — guilty pleas

Four defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted pleas from the following:

David Anthony Devincent Sr., 61, of Lansdale, Montgomery County, pleaded to one count of simple assault.

He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police for an incident on March 13, 2016, at 111 Broadway where he assaulted Robert Weeks.

Serfass placed him on probation for 24 months and ordered him to make restitution of $145 to the victim, render 100 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Thomas P. Rehl, 50, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of resisting arrest.

He was charged by Lehighton police following an incident at 102 Bridge St., when police responded to a report of a disturbance. While placing Rehl into custody he struggled with officers who had to use substantial force to subdue him, according to the arrest report.

Serfass said the circumstances of the incident warranted a prison term.

He sentenced Rehl to serve one to one day less 24 months in the county prison. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render a total of 100 hours of community service.

Because he is going to undergo surgery later this week and considering rehab time, Rehl will not begin his prison term until 9 a.m. on Dec. 29.

Stacy Lynn Behler, 31, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.

She was arrested by Lehighton police for an incident at the Dollar General Store, North First Street, on Jan. 12 when she stole $23.09 worth of merchandise.

Sentencing was deferred.

Resny Colon, 27, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement.

He was arrested on May 13 by Lehighton police in the 300 block of North East Alley. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man threatening people. On scene police found Colon on a nearby rooftop.

Colon is an inmate in the county prison facing a state parole violation, which he told the court runs to Nov. 13.

Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service when released from his current sentence.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
