Walters earns special teams award
East Stroudsburg University sophomore kicker Jordan Walters has been named the PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his performance on Saturday at West Chester.
Walters, a Pleasant Valley graduate, was 2-for-2 on field goals, including a 50-yarder, 2-for-2 on extra points and had a successful onside kick attempt in the Warriors’ 31-26 loss, as they rallied from a 25-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to have an opportunity to win the game on the final play.
His 50-yard field goal, in the first minute of the second quarter, is the seventh field goal of 50 or more yards in school history. Walters is the fourth ESU kicker to make a 50-yard field goal.
Walters also made a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter. He improved to 8-for-12 on field goals and 16-for-17 on extra points this season.
Walters is the PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. He was also recognized following the season-opening 20-16 win at Fairmont State.
ESU has claimed four of the nine awards this season. Senior linebacker Dakota Everett, also a Pleasant Valley grad, was honored after a 25-20 loss earlier this season against Mercyhurst.
