West End Fair Association hosts Zone 2 meeting
The West End Fair Association at Gilbert on Oct. 28 hosted the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs Zone 2 meeting for the 24 fairs in this zone.
The zone includes fairs as far away as Tioga County and as close as Carbon County.
The meeting, which was held in an autumn-decorated Howell Building, began at noon and ended at 3 p.m.
The attendees were welcomed by Brian Costenbader, West End Fair Association secretary.
The meeting was chaired by Dale LeVan, Lycoming County Fair.
Speakers at the meeting were Laura England, director of market development, and Cheryl Cook, Deputy Secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture; and PSACF officers President David Hallstrom, Clearfield County Fair; Vice President Dr. Sally Nolt, Elizabethtown Fair; Secretary-Treasurer Harry Reffner, Bedford County Fair; and Vice President for Fair Queen Program, Bitsey Kopfinger, Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair.
Attendees received updates on the Pennsylvania budget status, fair funding and capital improvement grant applications.
Fairs got the latest status information on the 106th Pennsylvania Fair Convention being held Jan. 17-20, 2018, at the Hershey Convention Center, Hershey, including lodging, seminars, table topics, trade show participants and fair queen related activities.
