Northern Lehigh School Board

Northern Lehigh School Board, on an 8-0 vote on Monday, with Director Debra Bower absent, took the following action:

• Approved Preston Kucsan, Patricia Sottolano and the Rev. Robert Zweifel as CLIU guest teachers at the current substitute teacher rates; Stacy Graham and Schelene Fritzinger as substitute instructional aides at the current substitute teacher rate; Schelene Fritzinger as a substitute cafeteria worker at the current substitute rate; Patricia Bortz, Tifani Weber and Susan Yesik as substitute custodians for the 2017-18 substitute rate; Marilyn Keenly as a substitute nurse at the current substitute rate.

• Approved Lisa Hoever as districtwide permanent substitute teacher for the 2017-18 school year. Hoever will be paid a per diem rate of $120 and will receive district health benefits according to the Affordable Care Act regulations, with co-payment amounts equivalent of that to district personnel.

• Granted Allison Chruscial and Krystle Tiedeman permission to attend the PA Excellence in E-Learning Forum — Improving Success — March 21-23, at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, Pocono Manor, at no cost to the district.

• Granted Rhonda Frantz permission to attend the 63rd Annual PASBO Conference, March 6-9 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, with the cost of registration $332, and meals $120, to be funded from the district’s business office budget.

• Granted Sherri Molitoris permission to attend the 63rd Annual PASBO Conference, March 6-9 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center with the cost of registration $332, lodging, $441, travel, $100, and meals, $120, to be funded from the district’s business office budget.

• Approved the request of the Slatington Elementary administration to create a Reading Olympics team. The club encourages participants to read more books and inspire students to be lifelong readers. The culmination of the program is a Reading Olympics competition. The club will meet after school on Wednesdays.

• Approved the first amendment to the Sports Medicine Service agreement dated Jan. 11, 2016, between the school district, St. Luke’s Hospital of Bethlehem, St. Luke’s University Hospital and St. Luke’s Physician Group.

• Approved resolutions directing the Northampton County Tax Claim Bureau and the Lehigh County Tax Claim Bureau not to collect delinquent taxes on behalf of the school district.

• Announced the board’s reorganization meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 4, with the regular school board to meet at 7:30 p.m.
