Nesquehoning weighs recycling options
Nesquehoning is weighing its options when it comes to the borough recycling.
Councilman George Sabol, on Wednesday, said that he and the sanitation committee made quite a few calls inquiring about prices for both single stream and curbside recycling.
He said that he has heard from quite a few people who said they miss the recycling program, which ended in the borough on Sept. 29 when Solomon Containers terminated the contract because they stopped servicing the area.
Sabol said that he received one quote and is waiting on at least two others.
“We’re working on it,” he said.
Councilwoman Mary Fox said that curbside pickup would be nice because it would allow the borough to alleviate the dumping of trash and other nonrecyclable items that had been occurring with the single stream recycling on Locust Street.
Councilwoman Rosemary Porembo said that the committee will be meeting to see what the quotes are that the borough receives and will see what can be done to return recycling back to Nesquehoning.
