St. John’s Evangelical

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, will hold worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. Following the service, they will be decorating the church, Sunday school and church hall for Advent and Christmas.

Gift Bag Delivery: The adult Sunday school class will again be preparing and delivering holiday gift bags to church shut-ins. The class will meet at 9 a.m. Dec. 2 to put the bags together and then head out to spread some holiday cheer.

Everyone is invited. Please pack a lunch as they plan a stop at one of the member’s houses to visit and eat lunch.

Cub Pack 145 Breakfast & Basket Raffle will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3 in the auditorium. All you can eat pancakes, eggs, potatoes, sausage, hot tea and juice. Free for children 4 and under.

Stop in the church office to pre-order and pay.

Advent services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 14 and 21 in the auditorium.

Trinity highlights

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday church school for students ages 3 through grade six begins at 10:45 a.m.

For those seeking membership at Trinity, the Rev. Moore will provide information Sunday at 1 p.m.

For those desiring to arrange a baptismal date, contact the church office at 610-377-4303 to arrange an appointment with Rev. Moore.

Sunday at 3 p.m., the sanctuary choir presents “Sing Joy to All the World,” a Christmas celebration, music by Lloyd Larson. The cantata is under the direction of Susan Lovejoy. The choir is accompanied by full orchestra including harp. A freewill offering will be accepted to benefit the food pantry.

“Thunder and Lightning” Youth Group for students in grades 4-6 will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Youth Room, with supper, Bible study and discussion.

“Breaking Bread” Youth Group for students in grades seven-12 will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 and 17 in the “Youth Room” with a similar format. Vicar Bergen is the adviser.
