Lehighton Area Pool Pals to go caroling at Hi Rise

Published November 28. 2017 12:27PM

The year may be winding down, but that means things are about to pick up for the Lehighton Area Pool Pals.

On Dec. 13, the group will perform their traditional Christmas caroling at the Lehighton Hi Rise for its residents to enjoy.

The group will be joined by Girl Scout Troop 33, along with special guests Lisa and Jonathan Schweitzer, who will play musical instruments.

Mark Hoffman, Chairman of the Lehighton Area Pool Pals, said the caroling has become a holiday tradition for the group.

This year, Hoffman said they want the caroling to be extra special in order to get everyone excited and energized for 2018.

He said there is a good chance Santa may even make a guest appearance.

Also of note, Hoffman said next year will mark the 10-year anniversary of the reopening of Baer Memorial Pool.

He said the Pool Pals, along with the pool management, have been busy working on plans to make 2018 a special year at the pool.

Hoffman said they are working on Alumni Day, in which they’ll be looking to invite all former lifeguards and pool managers back for a reunion.

They are also looking to team up with the Lehighton Downtown Initiative group to sponsor a “dive in,” but do not want to spoil the surprise to what movie will be playing, but it may involve a very large shark, he said.

Based on feedback from patrons of the pool, Hoffman said the pool management has committed to being open a minimum of 10 days until 9 p.m. to commemorate the pool’s 10-year anniversary. There will also be special menu items to purchase on those nights for dinner, he said.

“It is hard to believe the Pool Pals have been together as a group for 13 years, and even harder to believe the pool will be celebrating its 10-year reopening anniversary next year,” Hoffman said.

He added that the Pool Pals are “eternally grateful for the support they received and continue to receive from the community.”

Hoffman said the group is looking forward to next year and will work hard to support its mission statement “Creating Lifetime Memories” to those patrons who visit the pool in 2018.

Anyone with a season pass will be admitted to all of the special events planned for next year at no additional charge, he said.
