Palmerton plans tree lighting

Published November 29. 2017 10:55AM

Christmas is just around the corner, and Palmerton’s Holiday Lights Committee is ready to bring the holiday cheer with Christmas in the Park.

“We have 102 organizations, businesses, families, churches and all kinds of people who have adopted trees,” Michele O’Neill, chairwoman for Christmas in the Park, said. “The main large tree will be decorated by PenTeleData, and the Boy Scouts are decorating the tree at the bandshell.”

Tree decorating will continue through Thursday. The lighting ceremony will be held on Saturday, with a bad-weather date of Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m.

“We’re going to have food, craft vendors, Santa will be there, there will be horse and carriage rides and live music throughout the day,” O’Neill said. “It should be a fun time.”
