Lackawanna County man given time-served term for trespass
A Lackawanna County man with an extensive prior criminal record was given a time-served sentenced in Carbon County court on Friday after pleading guilty to one count of criminal trespass, as a felony three.
James Scott Nahf, 51, of Scranton, was sentenced to serve 320 days to one day less 24 months in prison by Judge Joseph J. Matika, with credit for 320 days already served.
He was charged by Lansford police for an incident on Aug. 9, 2014, in which he entered a residence on West Patterson Street.
Police responded to the area for a report of a man knocking on doors asking for beer, drugs and money. Police found Nahf in the residence in a highly intoxicated condition.
Defense attorney Gregory Lee Mousseau, chief public defender, told the court, “My client is a nice guy, as long as he doesn’t have any fire water.”
Matika noted that Nahf has 27 prior criminal convictions, all misdemeanors, adding, “This is his first felony offense.”
Matika also ordered Nahf to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render 50 hours of community service, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and have no contact with the victim.
