Polk to hold 20th annual holiday tree lighting
On Sunday, Polk Township will hold the town’s 20th annual tree lighting ceremony at Adam’s Faith Garden on Trach Drive in Kresgeville.
“Since this is our 20th, we are lighting 20 trees,” said township secretary and organizer Ruthanne Toner.
Adam’s Faith Garden is located at the Salem St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was created by Adam Jablonski as his Eagle Scout Project and dedicated for the use of the community. The garden is adjacent to the township’s Veterans’ Memorial.
This year, Baumgartner Trees is donating 20 4- to 5-foot trees that will be decorated by various organizations and businesses from within Polk Township. The trees will be lit at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 during a ceremony recognizing the holiday season.
The ceremony will include lit candles, poems, singing and the tree lighting. Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive by firetruck with candy for the children.
Following the ceremony, Salem St. Paul’s will open its doors to the community for refreshments, crafts and music. The event is open to the public.
