Schuylkill opens bids for bridge work

Schuylkill County has received eight bids from contractors seeking to be hired to replace the superstructure of an East Brunswick Township bridge.

The county-owned bridge is on Wild Turkey Lane over Little Schuylkill River.

Officials opened the bids at a workshop meeting Wednesday. The bids will be reviewed, and the job awarded at a later date.

Raker Construction LLC, Sunbury, Northumberland County, bid $892,415; H&K Group, Skippack, Montgomery County, bid $1,105,000; Lobar Site Development, Dillsburg, York County, bid $922,318; Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation, New Cumberland, Cumberland County, bid $983,936; Performance Construction Services, Pottsville, bid $991,800; Heim Construction Company, Orwigsburg, bid $1,302,869; and Bi-State Construction Company, Easton, bid $1,453,253.

Other business

In other matters, commissioners approved a $73,120 change order to the Schuylkill Township Community Development Block Grant project.

The cost increase was driven by the additional paving required by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation inspector during the project as much of the project was along the PennDOT right of way.

County Administrator Gary R. Bender said the county’s commitment of the amount is $25,332. The remainder will be paid by the municipal authority.

The commissioners also approved a request by 911 director Scott Krater to add a fifth addendum to the master antenna tower lease with Jordan Reality Inc. of Pottsville to lease space on Hazleton tower and related equipment.

The cost of the agreement is for an additional $28,800, and begins on Jan. 1, 2018.

Commissioners also renewed a software support agreement with Infor Emergency Systems of Tampa, Florida, for support of the 911 center’s CAD system that was installed in 2002.

The cost of the renewal is $108,348, to be made in two payments of $36,000 and one payment of $36,348.
