Carbon County court — guilty pleas
Five defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas before Judge Joseph J. Matika in county court on Friday.
Dustin P. Oncay, 33, of Tamaqua, pleaded to one count of unauthorized use of an automobile.
He was charged by Lansford police for borrowing a woman’s Pontiac Grand Am and not returning it as promised.
Oncay admitted to a drug problem involving heroin and methamphetamine.
Matika placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered him to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.
The term runs concurrent with a 18 to 36 months state prison term Oncay is currently serving in the state correctional institution at Camp Hill, Dauphin County, imposed in Schuylkill County. He has served about nine months of that term.
Deborah M. Coombs, 26, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault.
She was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on July 24 in the area of West Ridge Street. Police said a woman came to the police station with visible injuries to her face and bleeding. She required medical attention. She said she had been assaulted by Coombs. A short time later Coombs arrived at the station and admitted assaulting the woman over things the victim allegedly said about Coombs’ family.
Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service, get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation of treatment, attend and complete a anger management course and have no contact with the victim.
Shawn Dennis Ketchledge, 39, of Whitehall, pleaded to one count each of criminal conspiracy — criminal trespass and criminal conspiracy — criminal mischief.
He was arrested by Lansford police on March 29 for breaking into the impound lot of Krajcirik Automotive at 343 W. Patterson St. He took an all-terrain vehicle from the lot. There is a co-defendant in the case.
Matika placed him on probation for two years on the trespass count and ordered him to supply a DNA sample, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render 50 hours of community service and pay $675 restitution, which is his share.
On the mischief count the same sentence was imposed, concurrent to the first count.
Jay Tyler Reinheimer, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense, with a charge of simple assault dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.
He was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident on May 28 involving his father as the victim at their residence along Mahoning Mountain Drive. He admitted punching his father in the face.
Since the incident, Reinheimer said he addressed a drug addiction problem by spending nine months in an inpatient rehab facility.
He was previously placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.
Matika sentenced him to time-served (66 days) and paroled him.
Tricia M. Pryce, 41, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of defiant trespass.
She was arrested by Mahoning Township police on June 17 for entering the Walmart store after previously being told by the county court not to go into the store.
In a prior case she was placed in the ARD program with one of the conditions being not to enter the store during the period of the program.
Matika told her after accepting her plea the adult probation office will probable move to revoke her from the ARD program.
Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service and reimposed the ban from the store.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
