Christmas Decorating contest underway

For those who live or do business in Lehighton, the time to put up those festive winter decorations is now.

The borough’s annual Christmas Decorating Contest is open to all residents and businesses in the borough, according to Bambi Elsasser, treasurer of the Lehighton Downtown Initiative.

“There are so many different ways to decorate; it is fun to see all the different styles, whether it be traditional, “Old-fashioned classic,” or a fun look with tons of lights and inflatables,” Elsasser said.

“There is never a wrong way to decorate when it comes to Christmas. Make it your own and have fun with it.”

The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will judge the holiday decorations at 7 p.m. Thursday.

There will be 10 $25 awards presented to the winning residents, and four $100 awards to the winning businesses.

All awards will be in the form of a credit toward the winners’ electric bill.
