Santa to make a stop in Lehighton on Friday
Children in Lehighton who would relish a fun-filled evening with Santa before Christmas are in luck.
Hosted by the Lehighton Downtown Initiative, Christmas with Santa will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Clyde R. Houser Building Auditorium at 110 N. Third St.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. Those who attend are asked to use the right side entrance door.
The LDI moved this year’s event inside to help accommodate the young children and families since the event has been getting larger each year.
It is open to all families in the Lehighton Area School District, and will include classic animated Christmas shows along with free refreshments.
All children are welcome to enter the annual bicycle drawing. All bicycles will be donated by the Fraternal Order of Orioles.
A gift will also be provided to each child in attendance.
Picturesque Photography will be on hand for special Christmas pictures to purchase. A special backdrop and props will be provided.
Bambi Elsasser, treasurer, LDI, said having Santa Claus for the children of Lehighton has been a long-standing tradition in the borough.
“I remember this tradition since I was a little girl; if I remember correctly at that time, the giveaway items were sleds, not bicycles,” Elsasser said. “It is amazing to be able to carry on this tradition in Lehighton as a member of the LDI.”
