Garden club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Dec. 19 in Zion Stone Church social hall. The meeting will include the annual Christmas party.
The specimen category will be a branch with berries. Members are reminded to bring a covered dish and recipe to share. In lieu of a gift exchange, members will donate $5 each to the Bethany Children’s Home.
The club’s meeting last month was held on Nov. 28. Mary Bridygham was awarded first place in the arrangement competition, with Margita Stevens and Carol Kohn awarded first place in the specimen category.

Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Dec. 12 at Capriotti’s in McAdoo to welcome in the Christmas season. the annual Christmas party was attended by 49 members. Prizes were awarded to Dolores Walck and Barbara Hoppes.
The next regular meeting will be on Jan. 9, 2018, weather permitting.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville.
St. Peter’s Union
The Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday at St. Peter’s Union Church in Mantzville.
The service will include a presentation of the Christmas cantata. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class meets at 11:15 a.m., Cub and Girl Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Next week’s activities include: Monday, church board meets at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., worship and music committee meets at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, preschool Christmas program at 6 p.m., cherub choir meets at 6:30 p.m., junior choir rehearses at 7 p.m., senior choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 24’s schedule will include: 9 a.m., Las Pasadas worship service: 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Christmas Eve services. All three services will include Holy Communion.
St. John Lutheran
The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday’s 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John’s Lutheran Church.
The service will include a presentation of the Sunday school program.
The choirs will rehearse on Thursday, Dec. 21: angels at 6 p.m.; shepherds at 6:30 p.m.; chancel choir at 7:30 p.m.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. The service will include a presentation of the Sunday school program. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, Zion’s Guild will hold a Christmas party after the worship service.
A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 4 p.m. on Dec 24.
