Schuylkill commissioners will seek bids for several demolition projects

Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday agreed to seek bids for demolition projects in Butler Township, Girardville, Tamaqua, Minersville, Porter Township and Reilly Township.

The bids will be due in the Controller’s office on Jan. 15, with a bid opening date on Jan. 17.

A tentative award date will be Jan. 24, 2018.

In other matters, commissioners reappointed Mary Jo Moss, Orwigsburg, to the Zoning Hearing Board for five years. Her new term runs from Jan. 1, 2018, and expires on Dec. 31, 2022.

They also agreed to terminate the lease between the county and Auburn Borough at the county’s drop-off recycling site at Third and Pearson Street.

The borough will begin curbside collection of recyclables on Jan. 1.

The county will close the site by Dec. 31 and promptly remove the bins.

Commissioners also agreed to renew Benistar as the administrator of the retiree prescription drug plan at a monthly premium of $224.66 per person from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2018.
