State police urge holiday road safety
The Christmas and New Year’s holidays bring with them increased traffic on Pennsylvania’s roadways.
People will be traveling to spend the holidays with their family and friends.
Motorists should give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations safely.
When traveling long distances, motorists should use rest areas if they are feeling tired and fatigued.
Motorists should remain aware that the cold temperatures and winter weather have the potential to cause slippery conditions on the roadways.
The Pennsylvania State Police remind motorists to be cautious while driving over the holidays, especially in areas of heavy traffic congestion and road construction.
Troopers will increase patrols over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays and will be looking for aggressive drivers, as well as seat belt violations.
Numerous DUI patrols will also be conducted across Pennsylvania to remove impaired motorists from the roadways.
State police remind the motoring public to obey five commonly overlooked Pennsylvania traffic laws: Keep Right Pass Left; Move Right for Approaching Emergency Vehicle; The Steer Clear Law; Headlights On, Wipers On; and Clear Vehicles of Ice and Snow.
