A look back: December 22, 1970
The Summit Hill Borough Council, on a 5-3 vote, rejected the resignation of Councilman John Carnish, who was absent from the meeting and advised the board by letter he was resigning effective Jan. 1 due to circumstances and “interference with my work.”
Voting against accepting the resignation of the Democratic board member were John Rutch, Carmen Ciavaglia, James Holmes, William Boyle and Joseph Kozuch, all Democrats. Casting ballots to accept the resignation were Republicans Thomas Steve Wargo and Nelson Lindermuth.
On the same 5-3 vote, the council named Democrat Alfred Collevechio over Republican Dominic DiMeco to a five-year term on the sewer authority.
