Garage fire damages homes in Walker

Fire companies from numerous communities responded to a structure fire Wednesday night in Walker Township. First responders were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire at 79 River Road. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a detached garage to the rear of the home fully involved in flames. Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames but not before the heat of those flames caused damage to the rear of the home and an adjoining dwelling as well. Fire companies from Walker and West Penn townships, Tamaqua, New Ringgold and Tuscarora responded as well as the Tamaqua Rescue Squad. No injuries were reported in the incident.
