Driver fled scene after 443 crash

Published December 29. 2017 05:06AM

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that happened at 6 a.m. Dec. 24 on Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East (Route 443) in Mahoning Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a 2009 Subaru Outback operated by Jordan M. Marsh, 25, of Palmerton, crashed into the rear of a 2012 Kia Sportage driven by Ryan L. Heckman, 47, of Lehighton. Police said both vehicles were eastbound on Route 443, about 80 feet west of Seneca Drive, at the time.

Police said Marsh failed to stop and exchange information with Heckman and fled the scene. He was observed by Lehighton police who stopped him while he was traveling eastbound on Route 248.

Police said it was later determined Marsh was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Neither Heckman, nor Stacey A. Heckman, 45, also of Lehighton, who was a passenger in the Sportage, were injured.

Police said Marsh was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
