January 5, 1962 — Joe Ligenza tallies a team-high 32 points to help Nesquehoning pull away from Summit Hill for an 89-70 Black Diamond League victory. Ligenza hits for 11 of his points in the opening quarter as the Warriors, coached by George Roscoe, jump out to a seven-point lead. Gerald Farnsworth, who finishes with 22 points, keys a Nesquehoning 10-point run in the third frame to stop a Hill rally and widen the advantage. The winners also receive nine points from Bob Stoffa. The Hillers’ Bernie Kozuch leads all scorers with 38 points.
