Schuylkill crashes
State police at Frackville reported on two crashes investigated by troopers over the past weekend.
A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:37 p.m. on Friday along Route 61 in Blythe Township. Troopers said Alicia A. Kirwin, 21, of Catawissa, was driving a 2004 Kia Rio southbound when the vehicle went onto the berm and struck guide rail. Kirwin was not injured but the Kia had to be towed. She was cited for the crash.
The second crash occurred on Saturday at 8:25 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township. Troopers said Jenny Duran-Batista, 27, of Frackville, was driving a 2013 Honda Accord southbound when the vehicle went onto the shoulder of the road. Duran-Batista attempted to steer back onto the road and overcorrected. The Accord began to spin 85 degrees clockwise and skid back across both southbound lanes. The front bumper then impacted with the guide rail along the right shoulder, damaging 40 feet of the rail and breaking three guide rail posts.
The Accord then spun 275 degrees clockwise and traveled an additional 250 feet south on the shoulder before coming to rest.
Duran-Batista was not injured, but the Accord had to be towed. She was cited for the crash.
