A look back: January 13, 1970

Nearly 5,000 visitors toured the new Palmerton Hospital in the past three days, Miss Barbara Spadt, acting administrator, reported today.

She said the hospital staff hopes to make the move from the hospital into the new one in 2-3 weeks, but not before the new hospital is thoroughly cleaned, including drawers, cabinets and other facilities.

She said although the old hospital won’t be used for patients, it will still be the main entrance for the hospital complex. The old building will house the business office, medical records, physio therapy department, a maternity clinic and doctors’ offices. Eventually, the hospital auxiliary will have a snack bar and gift shop in the old building, she said.
