Free children’s arts expo is back for third year

Published February 02. 2018 01:58PM

The Lehigh Valley Arts Council will welcome families to the third annual Young at Art expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10 at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

This event provides a unique creative experience for children of all ages, with music and dance performances, arts projects, games and prizes. Admission is free.

Local arts organizations will be interacting with guests, providing information about educational programs, along with live entertainment in staged areas.

Parents will witness how the arts ignite their child’s imagination, while kids get the chance to explore their inner dancer, actor, musician, author or visual artist.

“Young at Art has truly grown and developed,” says Executive Director Randall Forte. “We were delighted to welcome nearly 800 parents and children in our second year, and so we’ve increased the floor plan and staging areas to add to the fun!”

After an overwhelmingly positive response, the expo has expanded, now showcasing 25 arts and cultural groups offering a wide range of programs for all levels.

Among them include The Baum School of Art, Touchstone Theatre, Community Music School, Girl Scouts of Eastern PA and Nurture Nature.

“From the point we entered the door, it was nonstop enjoyment for my family,” Shalini Maalouf shared.

“I was quite impressed on how educational each station was. My daughter was able to learn new things, while having fun. Every parent’s dream!”

The day’s festivities will feature a jam-packed schedule of arts demonstrations, activities, crafts and performances.

Guests will be amazed at the variety of entertainment provided by Puertorrican Culture Preservation, The Swain School, Appalachian Fiddle & Bluegrass Association and Lehigh Valley Martial Arts.

Complimentary face painting will be provided by Funtastic Faces and a Passport Game will guide guests with an interactive map. Lunch will be available for purchase, and parking is free.
