The Palmerton boys earned an important win, while a Palmerton girl reached an individual milestone in basketball action Friday night.
The Blue Bomber boys topped Southern Lehigh to move within one win of clinching a district playoff berth. In the girls contest, Linnaea Leister reached the 1,000-point plateau.
BOYS BASKETBALL
So. Lehigh-Palmerton
Palmerton kept its hopes alive of clinching a district playoff berth by pulling out a 55-47 Colonial League win over Southern Lehigh.
Nate Dougherty poured in a game-high 21 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Blue Bombers (10-11; 8-9). Justin Hosier added 12 points, while Eric Baumgardt netted 10.
With a win in its regular season finale against Northern Lehigh, Palmerton would assure itself a district playoff berth for the first time since 2002.
For the Spartans (9-11; 9-7), Daryl Coleman and Chris Andrews both finished with 15 points.

Jack Frankenfield scored a game-high 18 points to help Salisbury upset Northwestern in Colonial League action.
The Falcons (5-14; 5-10), who used a 13-7 third quarter to offset a halftime deficit, also received 13 points from Sean Snyder.
Deven Bollinger tallied a team-high 12 points for the Tigers (12-9; 9-8), while Sam Yadush added 10. Devin Thomas and Sam Seyfried chipped in with nine.
Northwestern won the JV game, 68-51.

Leighanna Lister scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the first half for the Tigers, who improved to 17-4 overall and 15-2 in the league.
Gabrielle Sevrain and Sydney Sevrain each contributed 10 points to the victory.

Palmerton’s Linnaea Leister scored her 1,000th career point, but Southern Lehigh remained perfect in the Colonial League with a 57-38 victory.
Leister, who finished with 12 points, reached her milestone by hitting a three-pointer in the second quarter. The Blue Bombers (8-13; 7-10) also received 12 points from Casi Papay.
The Spartans (18-2; 16-0) were paced by Olivia Snyder’s 20 points.

Jim Thorpe kept it close for a quarter, but North Schuylkill pulled away after that to post a 70-47 Schuylkill League victory.
The Olympians (6-15; 1-12), which trailed by just a 16-12 score after one frame, received a team-high 15 points from Natalia Richards. Payton Kovac contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor Craigie added eight boards and two blocks.
Averi Jordan tallied a game-high 17 points for the Spartans (18-1; 12-0), who clinched the District 1 title with the win.
