Steering problems blamed for crash
A Northumberland County man blamed a steering problem with his vehicle caused him to crash at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday along Route 901 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County.
Nathan Hinkle, 23, of Locust Gap, told state police at Frackville that he experienced steering problems with his 2004 Cadillac CTS while traveling southbound. The vehicle initially went onto the right berm and traveled about 180 feet before re-entering the road and crossing onto the left berm where it hit an embankment and then a large tree where it came to rest.
Hinkle and his passenger Natasha Dietrich, 26, of Mount Carmel, who were not wearing seat belts, were not injured. The Cadillac had to be towed from the scene.
