Bombers’ Guedes will play football at St. Vincent College
Palmerton High School’s Tekoah Guedes will continue his academic and football career at NCAA Division 3 St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.
Guedes was a standout quarterback/linebacker for the Bombers this past season.
Offensively, he completed 158 of 307 attempts (52 percent) for 1,724 yards. He was also a huge threat on the ground, carrying the ball 198 times for 1,192 yards (6.02 yard per carry). He passed for 16 touchdowns and ran for 20.
Guedes became only the second player in Palmerton football history to pass and run for 1,000 yards in a season. His 1,724 passing yards are the third most in a season in school history and his 16 TD passes tied him for the third most in school history.
Defensively, he had 112 total tackles (69 solo, 43 assists), including 18 tackles for loss. He had two quarterback sacks, two interceptions, 15 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one recovered fumble
Guedes was named to the Times News Football All-Star team as quarterback and a linebacker in addition to being named the team’s Athlete of the Year. He was also a 2017 Colonial League second team selection at both quarterback and linebacker; A Morning Call first team defensive specialist; a 2017 Mini Maxwell Award recipient; and the 2017-18 Football Scholar Athlete representative for Palmerton
Guedes also plays baseball, is a Palmerton Elementary Schools Classroom/Recess Visitor; a Bo Tkach Foundation Turkey Trot Race Day volunteer; and a Palmerton Youth Football Booster Club Camp volunteer.
Tekoah, the son of Matt and Kelley Guedes, plans to major in business.
Guedes will join 2017 Palmerton High School graduate Mike Stasko on the St. Vincent College football roster.
