A look back: February 23, 1977

The Carbon County Commissioners yesterday approved the appointment of Lamont McClure of Weatherly, a member of the county’s planning commission office staff, as the director of the Carbon County Housing Authority.

This came in response to a letter from Carl Johnson, Palmerton, authority chairman, saying the appointment of a director is necessary to carry out the administrative and operational functions of the authority on a daily basis.

McClure also recommended to the commissioners they hire Bernard Szot of Nanticoke as a financial specialist under Section 312 of the housing program, the need for a specialist having been recommended by the Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
