A look back: February 19, 1976
The State Department of Education said today $1,427,696 has been paid to Carbon County school districts as their share of state subsidies being sent out to school districts throughout the state — the second such payment under the “tertiary” reimbursement program for the 1975-76 school year.
The subsidy is based on the district’s weighted average daily membership, multiplied by the actual instructional expense per pupil — up to $750 — times the aid ratio of the average market value of real estate and average daily attendance in relation to the statewide average market value of real estate and daily membership
The subsidies include: Jim Thorpe, $102.622; Lehighton, $534,071; Palmerton, $284,921; Panther Valley, $342,905; and Weatherly, $163,175.
