A look back: February 17, 1993

Larry L. Arner, who is active in the Aquashicola Fire Department as a firefighter, officer and recycling coordinator, was named the company’s “Fireman of the Year” during an awards dinner recently.

The highlight was the presentation to Arner of the Warren E. Furry Memorial Award, which is given to a member for “distinguished service to the department and the community.”

The award was announced by Rory Koons, fire chief, and Bill George, president, who cited Arner’s “efforts, dedication and loyalty” to the department that serves as an inspiration to the younger members of the company.
