Man blames plow truck for damage done to vehicle
A Walker Township man has blamed a township plow truck for an incident in which his vehicle was damaged, and wants the township to pay for it.
Larry Bensinger Jr. told the board of supervisors on Thursday that at around 6 p.m. Feb. 17, his family was traveling eastbound on Valley Road when they saw a plow truck heading westbound in the eastbound lane.
Bensinger said the plow truck stopped and backed up, leaving a pile of snow in the eastbound lane, and then moved the truck into the westbound lane, blocking all lanes of travel on a dark snowy night.
“There were no signs warning that a lane was closed,” Bensinger said. “I had no choice but to hit the pile of snow.”
Bensinger said the plow truck was plowing the wrong way, and that the incident resulted in over $1,200 damage to the front bumper cover of his 2011 Dodge Durango.
Further, he said both the township roadmaster, as well as Supervisor Craig Wagner, were notified via text message, but he never received a response.
Wagner told Bensinger they were aware of the situation.
“We’ll look at it to see if we’re at fault,” Wagner said. “We’ll check into it and we’ll get back to you.”
Bensinger said he would like to have the damage repaired, and believes the township is at fault.
