Woman jailed for stealing phone through Facebook meeting
A Northampton County woman is behind bars after stealing a phone in Palmerton on Wednesday.
Allesha Moyer, 29, whose last known address was Northampton, faces charges of robbery, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin Buck of the borough police department:
On Wednesday, the victim decided to meet Moyer in the parking lot of the Sokol Hall on Lehigh Avenue in Palmerton.
The meeting was arranged through Facebook to buy a phone, with Moyer using the fraudulent profile of “Stephy Miller.”
When the woman arrived, she got out of the vehicle and Moyer approached her, thanking her for meeting her.
At that time, Moyer asked to see the phone, and as the victim began to pull it out of her pocket, Moyer grabbed it from her hand and immediately fled the scene, heading westbound on Lehigh Avenue.
The victim provided a description for and identified Moyer, who uses the alias of Allesha Bollinger.
On Thursday, the victim picked Moyer out of a photo lineup at the Palmerton Police Department.
The victim said that the phone that had been taken was a Samsung Galaxy S7 valued at $450.
Moyer is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10:45 a.m. March 21 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
She is currently lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail, 10 percent.
