Carbon Career & Technical Institute conducted the following action Thursday:

• Amanda Resh was approved as a substitute teacher, instructional aide and chaperon, pending all mandatory clearances.

• Math teachers Justin Pshar and Kevin Sowa were approved to chaperon 15 AP calculus/pre-calculus students on a field trip to King’s College in Wilkes-Barre on April 11.

• The committee approved seven students to attend the DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, from April 21 to 25, at a cost of $5,500 to assist with registration, transportation and lodging expenses. DECA major adviser Stephanie Barto was approved to chaperon the seven students at a cost of $1,750 to cover registration, transportation and lodging expenses.

• Auto Service and Technology instructor Harold Resh, instructional aide John Rogers, Auto Collision Repair instructor Dennis Starry and instructional aide Donald McGorry were approved to chaperon 41 Auto Service and Technology and Auto Collision Repair students on a field trip to the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet and Corral in Carlisle on April 20.

• Health Medical instructor Michele Dominic, Coordinator of School Improvement Peggy Kalogerakis and Special Education teacher Scott Bartholomew were approved to chaperon 11 Health Medical students on a field trip to Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia on April 27.

• The committee acknowledged the receipt of and passing of resolutions from Palmerton Area School District and Weatherly Area School District in relation to the CCTI 2018-19 proposed budget, with total receipts and expenditures of $8,330,745. Business administrator Jeffry Deutsch acknowledged that Panther Valley had also approved the budget. Jim Thorpe and Lehighton still have to approve the budget, though Deutsch said he expects both districts to pass the measures before the next CCTI Joint Operating Committee meeting.

• Non-special education out-of-county tuition rates were set for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 CCTI school years, with half-year, half-day tuition set at $5,175; half-year, full-day tuition set at $10,350; full-year, half-day tuition set at $10,350; and full-year, full-day tuition set at $20,700.

• Special education out-of-county tuition rates were set for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 CCTI school years, with half-year, half-day tuition set at $$6,075; half-year, full-day tuition set at $12,150; full-year, half-day tuition set at $12,150; and full-year, full-day tuition set at $24,300.

• The committee approved the revised 2017-18 CCTI student/teacher calendar to reflect snow days on March 2 and 7, and makeup days on June 7 and 8.

• Principal Brent Borzak was appointed as the local Homeless Education Liaison for CCTI.

• June 8, has been approved as the CCTI graduation date, with ceremonies to be held at Jim Thorpe Area High School.
