A Palmerton woman is behind bars for stealing phones in the borough.

Nicole Bollinger, 30, faces charges on one count each of theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property for another incident that took place at the same location.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin Buck of the borough police department:

On Feb. 25, a man received a message responding to an advertisement to sell an iPhone 7.

He responded to the message, and it was agreed that they would meet to do the sale in the parking lot of the Sokol Hall located in Lehigh Avenue in the borough.

At around 8:50 p.m., the victim arrived at the location and met Bollinger, who provided him with what appeared to be about $400.

At that time, he handed Bollinger the phone and she quickly fled the area.

He unfolded the money and found it to be counterfeit.

The victim and a juvenile female witness both identified Bollinger from a photo lineup.

The victim said the phone was valued at $700.

Bollinger also faces one count each of theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

According to an affidavit filed by Buck:

On March 12, Buck found that on March 10, a female had received a message responding to an advertisement to sell an iPhone 7 Plus.

The victim responded to the message and it was agreed they would meet to do the sale in the parking lot of the Sokol Hall.

At 3:25 p.m., the victim arrived and met Bollinger, who asked for the phone to “check the numbers” to ensure the phone was in working condition.

She handed Bollinger the phone for inspection, and upon doing so, Bollinger walked around the corner of the building and fled with the phone.

The victim came to the police department for an interview and she identified Bollinger from a photo lineup.

The victim said the phone was valued at $700.

Bollinger is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton at 10:45 a.m. March 21.

She is currently lodged in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 straight bail on both cases.
