Monroe driver facing charges
A Monroe County driver is facing charges, including fleeing police, following an incident that began about 12:23 a.m. on Tuesday in Pocono Township.
State police at Stroudsburg said a traffic stop was attempted along Interstate 80 for a vehicle code violation but the driver refused to stop. The driver continued westbound while being pursued by troopers with emergency lights and siren activated. The vehicle was eventually stopped along Warner Drive in Chestnuthill Township. The driver exited the vehicle and ran off. Troopers were able to apprehend him.
The driver was identified as Travis Nevielle Roberto, 25, of Saylorsburg. It was learned that Roberto had an active warrant for his arrest issued in New Jersey. Roberto was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of controlled substances and related paraphernalia.
Roberto was taken into custody and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville on fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest and drug charges.
