March 22, 1996 — Winning pitcher Tom LeMasters tosses three shutout innings to help Tamaqua open its season with a 4-1 victory over Lehighton. LeMasters, who also knocks in a run with a sacrifice fly, strikes out five batters. The Blue Raiders, coached by Bob Livingston, jump out to an early lead in the first inning thanks to RBI singles by John Boyer, Jim Murphy and Cory Fritz. The winners also receive two hits from both Brian Hummel and Steve Shickram. Hummel pitches the final three frames to preserve the victory.
